Basketball Programs Unveil 2017-18 Schedules/트루먼주립대학교(Truman State University)
The Truman State University men's and women's basketball programs released their 2017-18 schedules on Thursday afternoon. The women graduated just one senior in Cassidy Clark and look to build on a 15-win 2016-17 campaign while the men lost quite the senior class, but are in search of at least 20 wins for the fifth year in a row.
The women are set to open up at home for the first time in three years when they play host to Missouri Valley on Nov. 11 before heading north to take on Augustana on Nov. 13. After back-to-back home games against the likes of Missouri Southern State (Nov. 18) and Puerto Rico-Mayaguez (Nov. 20), the Bulldogs will take part in their lone tournament of the regular season at Washburn. As part of that Ramada Inn Thanksgiving Classic, the Purple and White are matched up against Newman on Nov. 24 and the host Ichabods the next day.
Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) play will begin inside the friendly confines of Pershing Arena on Dec. 2 vs. Missouri-St. Louis before another home game against NAIA foe, Hannibal-LaGrange two days later. Next comes a GLVC trip to McKendree on Dec. 7 and a nonconference showdown with Missouri Western State after a 12-day break from action. That matchup with the Griffons rounds out the nonconference slate for Truman before 16 GLVC contests in a row.
As for the men, they will open up this coming season just like they did the last against Trevecca Nazarene (Nov. 11) and Cedarville (Nov. 12), this time in the GLVC/G-MAC Challenge. The 2017-18 home opener will take place on Nov. 15 vs. Lindenwood before a tournament hosted by the defending Division II National Champion, Northwest Missouri State. Those two games in Maryville will be vs. Upper Iowa (Nov. 17) and the Bearcats the following Saturday (Nov. 18).
Truman will then play three in a row in front of the home faithful against Missouri Baptist on Nov. 21, Lincoln on Nov. 28 and Missouri-St. Louis on Dec. 2 (GLVC opener). Dec. 7 will see the Bulldogs take to Lebanon, Ill. against McKendree before the tournament at Quincy with matchups against Ohio Valley (Dec. 18) and Missouri Southern State (Dec. 19). The Purple and White will finish their nonconference portion with Iowa Wesleyan on Dec. 30 followed by the 16 GLVC games in a row to close out the regular season.
