Kimberly Greer, dean of Minnesota State University, Mankato’s College of Social and Behavioral Sciences since July 1, 2011, has been named provost and vice president for academic affairs at California State University, Stanislaus, located in Turlock, Calif., effective Jan. 24.
Minnesota State Mankato President Richard Davenport and Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs Marilyn Wells congratulated Greer on her new position, and both said they were appreciative of Greer’s 18 years of service to Minnesota State Mankato.
“We are very proud that Dr. Kim Greer has been chosen provost and vice president for academic affairs at Stanislaus State after a highly competitive national search,” said Davenport. “In addition to all of her contributions as a dean, Dr. Greer supported a number of university-wide academic initiatives as interim associate provost while managing financial and other material resources for the Division of Academic Affairs. Dr. Greer showed remarkable promise as a leader early on in her career, and I am certain she will continue to impress others in her new role as provost working for President Ellen Junn. We wish Kim well in her new career opportunity.”
“Dr. Greer is a respected academic administrator who values authentic leadership, collaboration and innovation,” said Wells. “Throughout her career, Dr. Greer has demonstrated a passion for assuring access and success for all students and a commitment to faculty excellence and shared governance. She has built strong, positive relationships across campus and in the community. Among her many accomplishments as dean, Dr. Greer led a strategic planning process for the College, designed collaborative classroom spaces, and successfully advocated for designation of a new interdisciplinary research lab.”
Greer joined Minnesota State Mankato’s faculty in 1998 and served as chair of the Department of Sociology and Corrections from 2004-2007. She was named the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences’ distinguished professor in 2009, and in 2010 was selected to participate in the Higher Education Resource Services Leadership Institute in Denver, Colo. Greer served as Minnesota State Mankato’s interim associate provost from 2013-2015.
Wells said a call would be forthcoming for nominations and applications for the position of interim dean for the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences.
Minnesota State Mankato, a comprehensive university with 15,110 students, is part of the Minnesota State system, which comprises 31 state institutions.
