Kennesaw State forum examines value of international experience in workforce development_

A panel of three leading experts in government, commerce and global engagement will discuss the impact of international experience on Georgia’s workforce development during a forum at Kennesaw State University March 22.  


What:


The panel discussion will examine how international travel and education can prepare Georgians to compete in an increasingly globalized job market and enhance the ability of local businesses to grow and expand in the global marketplace. The forum, which is hosted by Kennesaw State’s Division of Global Affairs, is free and open to the public but seating is limited. Reservations are recommended.


Who:


Panelists include:


·       Sen. Johnny Isakson, now in his second term representing Georgia in the U.S. Senate, has represented the state through three terms in the U.S. House of Representatives; during 17 years in the Georgia legislature and as a former chairman of the State Board of Education. He also is a business leader, who served 20 years as president of one of the region’s largest real estate brokerage firms.


·      Carrie Hessler-Radelet, U.S. Peace Corps director, presides over the preeminent international service organization sending Americans abroad to tackle pressing needs of people around the world. She is among the fourth generation of her family to serve in the Peace Corps, starting out as a teacher in Western Samoa in 1981. She also spent more than two decades working in public health, focusing on HIV/AIDS and maternal and child health.


·      Christopher Carr, commissioner, Georgia Department of Economic Development, has since 2013 lead the agency responsible for creating jobs and investment in Georgia through business recruitment and expansion, international trade and tourism, as well as the arts, film and music industries. He formerly served as chief of staff for Sen. Johnny Isakson.


·      Daniel S. Papp, president of Kennesaw State, will moderate.


 When:


Tuesday, March 22. The panel discussion is 2 p.m. to 3:10 p.m, followed by a Q&A with Hessler-Radelet
