Eastern Illinois University(이스턴일리노이대학교)Baseball Prepares For Road Series At Morehead State
Eastern Illinois baseball will take to the road this weekend and travel to Morehead State for a three-game OVC series in Morehead, Kentucky. Morehead State enters the weekend as one of the top offenses in the country as the Eagles, as a team, lead the nation in batting average (.336), hits (513), and slugging percentage (.528).
• Joseph Duncan collected four hits in the 8-7 win over Indiana State on Tuesday. Duncan now has 57 hits on the season and is currently tied for ninth with TTU's Chase Chambers entering this weekend's play. He also ranks tied for ninth in the OVC for runs scored (40).
• Logan Beaman has shown great plate discipline all season and collected his team-high 32nd walk of the season against Saint Louis yesterday. The 32 walks lead the Ohio Valley Conference this season.
• Andrew Curran continued to display some pop in his bat after being named as the Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week. Curran collected his fourth triple of the season against the Billikens on Wednesday and ranks tied for second in the OVC.
• Alex Stevenson picked up his first career win in the Panthers' 8-7 win over Indiana State on Tuesday. The freshman right-handed pitcher shut down the Sycamores in order in the ninth to preserve the win.
• Devin Rose picked up his second win of the season on Tuesday. The junior transfer allowed just two runs in four innings of relief against the Sycamores.
• Brendon Allen will get the ball to start on Friday at Morehead State. Allen will be making his 14th appearance and ninth start of the season. Michael McCormick is in line to start for the Panthers on Saturday. McCormick will be making his 12th appearance and ninth start of the season. At this time, Eastern Illinois has not named a starter for the series finale on Sunday.
• Following their series at Morehead State, the Eastern Illinois baseball team will have a week to prepare for another conference series, when the Panthers welcome UT Martin to Coaches Stadium. The UT Martin series is scheduled for the weekend of May 5-7.
• Eastern Illinois is playing its 111th season of intercollegiate baseball. EIU has an all-time record of 1,745 wins and 1,543 losses. Head Coach Jason Anderson is in his 2nd season as the Panthers skipper after being hired to take on the role in the summer of 2015. Anderson picked up the first win of his coaching career with a 10-8 victory over No. 12 Arkansas in 12 innings on March 5, 2016.
