[강남역유학원]Eastern Illinois University (이스턴일리노이대학교)Golden Eagles Top Panthers In Series Finale

Eastern Illinois and Tennessee Tech battled back-and-forth to decide a winner in Sunday's series finale, but it was the Golden Eagles who came away with a 13-9 win over the Panthers.

Eastern Illinois fell to 5-22 (2-7 OVC) following the loss, while Tennessee Tech kept their unbeaten streak in conference games alive and ran their record up to 12-0 in the OVC (23-7 overall).

Matt Albert gave the Panthers a 1-0 advantage to begin the second inning as he knocked his team-leading ninth home run of the season over the wall in left field. Nicholas McCormick and Frankie Perrone followed the Albert home run with back-to-back walks. A balk moved the pair up an extra base as the Panthers took advantage with an RBI sacrifice fly from Justin Smith and moved the score to 2-0.

Tennessee Tech cut the deficit in half in the bottom of the second inning on a David Garza RBI single.

The Panthers were in business to start the third inning as Jimmy Govern singled to lead off the inning and Logan Beaman followed with a double to put runners on second and third for EIU. Dougie Parks extended the EIU lead to 4-1 with a two-run single into left-center field. The Golden Eagles rallied back in the bottom portion of the frame to tie the score at four. After Kevin Strohschein pulled Tennessee Tech within one on a two-run double, Chase Chambers tied the score with an RBI groundout.

Eastern Illinois kept the bats rolling into the fifth inning. Beaman started the rally with a one-out walk as Parks followed the free pass with a single to put runners on first and second for Albert. Albert came through with his second home run of the game, this time a three-run shot, and put the Panthers ahead once again at 7-4. It marked the third multi-home run game for Albert this season.

Alex Junior singled to start the bottom of the fifth for the Golden Eagles. A wild pitch and an EIU error moved Junior up to third base. Trevor Putzig brought home the first Tennessee Tech run of the inning with an infield single. A second EIU error in the inning put a pair of runners on for TTU's Chambers. Chambers gave TTU their first lead of the game at 8-7 on a three-run home run.

Andrew Curran worked a one-out walk to give the Panthers a base runner in the top of the sixth inning. Eastern Illinois quickly regained the lead as Govern and Beaman knocked back-to-back RBI doubles and put EIU ahead, 9-8.

The back-and-forth affair continued in the game as Tennessee Tech once again overtook the lead in the bottom of the sixth. The Panthers looked as if they would shut down the Golden Eagles in order, but a dropped third strike scooted to the backstop and allowed the runner to reach first safely and kept the inning alive. Putzig stepped up to the plate and hit a two-run homer to left and gave the Golden Eagles a 10-9 advantage.

Tennessee Tech added the final three runs of the game in the bottom of the eighth on a three-run home run off the bat of Strohschein.

Alex Stevenson took the loss on the mound for the Panthers as the freshman surrendered seven runs (six earned) in four innings.

Govern and Parks both ended the game with three hits each to lead EIU. Beaman and Albert added a pair of hits for the Panthers.

Eastern Illinois will be back in action on Tuesday night as the Panthers travel to Saint Louis prior to hosting Illinois College on Wednesday.
