Parents and families of Northwest Missouri State University students will gather for a weekend of entertainment, athletic events and family fun as the University celebrates its annual Family Weekend, Sept. 16-18.

“Families are an integral part of student success and are important partners in our mission of  focusing on student success -- every student, every day at Northwest,” Anthony Maly, a coordinator in Northwest's Office of Student Involvement, said. “We hope that Family Weekend can help students’ family members become better acclimated with campus life at Northwest as well as learning more about the resources that Northwest has to help their students’ succeed.”

The weekend’s highlights include free evening entertainment, the annual Alumni Awards Banquet and a Saturday afternoon football game against the University of Nebraska-Kearney. Festivities surrounding the football game include the Hy-Vee Bearcat Zone tailgate and the halftime introduction of Northwest’s Family of the Year.

Northwest Residential Life is offering low cost weekend housing for families and visitors during Family Weekend. Families may reserve two-person rooms in Phillips Hall for $25 per night at nwmissouri.edu/reslife/FWHWhotel.htm.

All Family Weekend events are open to the public, unless otherwise noted. Times are subject to change.

A complete schedule for Family Weekend and more details are available at nwmissouri.edu/getinvolved/familyweekend/. For more information, contact the Office of Student Involvement at 660.562.1226 or osi@nwmissouri.edu
